Haigh provides valuable experience for lucky intern.

02nd Sep 2013

As a leading local employer, Haigh are committed to providing skills and development opportunities to the community, and has provided these through a portfolio of permanent roles, work placements, internships and also Apprenticeships run in conjunction with HGTA (Hereford Group Training Association). The most recent example of skills development has seen a local IT student sign up for a 1 year internship, working 2 days per week for Haigh whilst continuing his education.

Speaking of the appointment David Brown comments "We are already well regarded for our commitment to skills development through our long standing Engineering Apprenticeship schemes. This internship is slightly different in that it provides paid work experience in parallel with an educational commitment.  We firmly believe that there is no substitute for practical experience and this blended approach should add real value to the overall learning and development of our intern. And of course there are benefits for the business so it's a real win-win."Haigh has an unquestionable commitment to skills and career development, seen throughout the business, and perhaps most notably within the Senior Management structure where a staggering 60% of the team started with the organisation on an Apprenticeship basis.

With the recent announcement of A Level and GCSE results, coupled with the increasing focus on vocational and skills development,Haigh's commitment to the development of its own employees and others from around the area is worthy of note.
