Draughtsman awarded Apprentice Technician of the Year by HGTA.

10th Nov 2009

The Haigh Engineering Company is pleased to congratulate Oliver Hales, who has recently completed his apprenticeship, on being awarded the S. Hetherington Trophy for Apprentice Technician of the Year (post first year) on 10th November 2009 by British Paralympic champions Sascha Kindred & Nyree Lewis, on behalf of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association (HGTA).

Speaking of his award Oliver comments “I am very glad to receive this award, and would like to thank both HGTA and Haigh Engineering for all their help and support over the past 4 years, and giving me the opportunity to complete an advanced apprenticeship. I would thoroughly recommend the scheme to any young person wanting to gain useful qualifications and embark on a career as an engineer”.

As one of the original seven companies that founded HGTA and member for over 40 years, Haigh Engineering has actively supported and contributed to apprentice opportunities throughout the county, offering engineering apprenticeships on an annual basis. Successful candidates undertake both on-the-job training and off-site study with a view to gaining valuable work experience, qualifications and increase career progression – often staying on within Haigh. Proving the worth of Apprentice schemes, most of the Senior Managers at Haigh Engineering started their career at Haigh in such schemes themselves – true testimony to the opportunities that Apprenticeships can offer.

Haigh Engineering wishes Oliver Hales every success for his future career. Oliver’s achievement is an inspiration to all.
